Welcome everyone to the July Tour de Freaks! Because of the Stampin’ Up! Convention we are hopping a week later than usual but we are worth the wait! If you are going forward through the hop you arrived here from Patty Bennett’s wonderful site – Patty’s Stamping Spot! Weren’t those just wonderful?
I had already shared my convention Control Freak swaps so I have something else in store for you! Oh…I just love the new Modern Medley dsp and wanted to showcase that this month. I also spent A LOT of time playing with the hexagon punch (as you will see in my NEXT item) and thought I’d do a card to match my 3D. This is a 6 1/2 x 3 1/4 card. The base is Bermuda Bay. I took a piece of Very Vanilla, layered on Basic Black and stamped my friend using Basic Black. I took a piece of Real Red, cut into a banner and added to the panel. I added a Basic Black strip then wrapped a piece of Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon around it. I added the panel to the card base. Next I punched out three hexagons and added to the card using dimensionals. Finally I made 3 flowers using the Boho Blossom Punch, Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla, Real Red and a Basic Black Candy dot. I added these to the hexagons using glue dots.
Okay…now for my VERY favorite! I made letters for my roommate and some special friends at convention (see my post tomorrow – Sunday – for these). I loved them soooo much I decided to make one for myself. For mine I decided to go with the Modern Medley. I bought the wood letter at the big box store and spray painted it white. I punched out a BUNCH of the hexagons and adhered to the letter using Modge Podge. Once it was dry I added a layer of Modge Podge on top and then when THAT was dry I sprayed with Clear Acrylic sealer. I made my BIG flower using the Fun Flowers die, Bermuda Bay, Modern Medley dsp, Real Red cardstock adhered to coaster board. These were layered using dimensionals and I added a Basic Black button tied with Whisper White Baker’s Twine. Then I made a bunch of little flowers using the Boho Blossom punch and the same as the flowers on my card. I added these to the M using glue dots. This is one of those items that is just sooo hard to get a good photo of and is MUCH cooler in real life!
