Well I promised yesterday during the Control Freak Hop that I would share some more wood letters! These are the ones I made for my roommate Sharon and my special friend Connie (yep, of Create with Connie and Mary) and Annette.
I asked my friends what their favorite dsp was in the new catalog and had to laugh that they all picked the SAME one! I sure did make doing these quick!
I got the letters a Michael’s and they were plain wood. I started by spray painting them white so that when I left a gap between the hexagons it would show white!
The Gingham Garden dsp is just so happy! Yep…that’s the best way to describe this dsp…HAPPY!!!! So many fun prints to use and it just soooo looks like a quilt when you are done!
I punched out a lot of hexagons and made little piles so I could see all the different prints. This helped me be able to make sure I use a variety and not keep using the same print.
I used Modge Podge to add the hexagons to the wood letters. I like using these because you have a little ‘wiggle’ time to get it where you want it.
As I said in my post yesterday, once I got all the hexagons on there, I let it dry then added a layer of Modge Podge on top. You need to make sure that is good and dry then spray paint it with Clear Acrylic Spray and let it dry.
I made the flowers using the coaster board that I added cardstock and dsp to. I used the Fun Flowers Die and I added the layers of the flowers together using dimensionals. I finished off the flowers using a Strawberry Slush Boutique Detail in the center.
Okay…and one last one! My friend Lisa has been my roommate for several of the conventions and she has not been able to go. Also her birthday is in June and this month, well…she just had a rough start to her month. So I thought I’d bright her day with a surprise letter.
She loves the Epic Day dsp and so I used that on hers. It’s made just the same as the others except her flower is all dsp and the center is Crushed Curry Button in the center with Whisper White Baker’s Twine bow on there.
So I hope you have enjoyed my monograms! I just had sooo much fun making these and they really didn’t take that long at all! You will notice that I didn’t add the extra flowers on these. The reason I kept these more simple is because the top three were traveling to SLC then back with there new owners and Lisa’s was mailed to Nebraska!
