Goodbye Sweet Friend

GypsyAs many of you know, two week ago we found out that my sweet Gypsy girl was very ill (although she NEVER acted like she was).  The vet found that she had an extremely large tumor in her liver and it seemed to be growing very quickly.  The vet told us it wouldn’t be very long.

Tonight (Saturday) around 8 pm Gypsy let us know that it was time.  Up until then you really couldn’t tell she was sick…a little slower but still bouncing when you said ‘puppy treat’ or ‘chicken noodle soup’.  It is a very sad day.  Bandit, as you know, adored his ‘big sis’ and he is beside himself right now.  Hopefully it will get easier for him.

So to all you wonderful people who have been sending your thoughts and hugs to Gypsy…she wanted to tell you that she will miss you all and thanks for coming by to see her all the time (oh and do stamp classes with her mom!).  And a very special big hug to ‘auntie Karen’…her very first aunt.

  1. What a beautiful dog!!! I am so sorry for your loss….but I also know, from having pets of my own that have left this world, you have a ton of wonderful memories!!! Hang on to those and give Bandit an extra hug/hugs!!!

  2. I am so sorry you lost your friend. It sounds like she wasn’t ill too long, thankfully. It’s a shame they don’t stay with us long enough.

  3. I am so sorry to hear about Gypsy’s passing. I know how you are feeling since I have lost pets of my own in years past. They bring such joy to our lives. Cherish the memories you have of her. May you, your husband, and Bandit comfort one another during these sad times.

  4. So very sorry about your loss. I, too, lost a very special dog to a rapid moving cancer that took his life in 1 short day! I know your grief, but it will, with time, get better. At least you have Bandit and will be comforting him as you go thru the grieving process.

  5. i’m so very sorry for your loss, mary. they are such a big part of our families and bring us such joy and unconditional love and i know we are the lucky ones for it. i still miss all my furbabies. she was lucky to have you for her mama. sending hugs.

  6. So sorry for your loss. We lost our dog the same way – in a matter of 2 weeks. It’s hard on us but comforting to know our pet didn’t suffer long.

  7. Losing a fur-baby is so very difficult! They are so loyal, understanding and they never question us! I am so sorry for your loss, Mary! Sending big hugs!

  8. There is nothing I can do to take away the pain right now. Please know that you are in our hearts. All pet lovers feel it when one of us loses a beloved friend. I had this lovely image of my sweet Rosy running in a field of flowers after she passed away. I know I will see her again.

  9. Oh Mary, I’ve been out of town for 10 days and just saw your email when I was checking my 200 some emails when I returned. I know how much you loved Gypsy and you were such a good doggie Mom to her. It’s so hard when we have to make that gut wrenching decision. But you did what was right for her. She gave you lots of love and you gave it back to her in return. I hope little Bandit likes his new brother (cutie too) but I know he will miss giving eyelash kisses to his big sis!!! Hugs to you 🙂
