Each Sunday SU Connection (a site for SU demonstrators) hosts a Featured Stamper.  This week it was the every talented (and exceeding funny) Jan Tink.  Jan has a style that is all her own fill with delightful layouts and unique color combos.  To see close-ups of the flowers and the background, click inside…

The base of the card is Sage Shadow.  Not sure why I picked that color except it is a green I really like with brown!  I took a piece of the brown dotted dsp from the Sweet Pea paper pack (which you all know I truly LOVE).  In Jan’s original card, she used a texture plate on her cardstock.  For mine, I ran it through the Finial Press embossing folder then took my sanding block to give the design more definition.  I have not used my clips in a LONG time but I added on to the side and tied a piece of the Pretty in Pink 5/8” Satin Ribbon on it.  Next Jan had a greeting in the upper right of her card so I ink Happy Birthday from the Vintage Labels using Sage Shadow and Close to Cocoa markers, stamped on Pretty in Pink cardstock and then punched with the small oval punch.  I put this in the Vanilla Stylized Hardware.  LOVE IT!

I cut a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the random dots from Itty Bitty background using Close to Cocoa.  Oh my word…when was the last time I used THAT stamp!  I used to not be able to stamp without using it and I needed to add just a little extra so I pulled out that stamp.  I added an eyelet border edge in Sage Shadow along the bottom and a Sage Shadow strip along the top.

And now for the flowers.  I really like this big flower from the Vintage Vogue set!  I inked the flower in Pretty in Pink and did rock and roll in Regal Rose, stamped, cut out and then sponged using Close to Cocoa ink.  For the flowers I inked them in Sage Shadow, rocked and rolled into Always Artichoke, stamped and cut out.  So, the next problem was what to do with center of the flowers.  I wanted to use the small neutral brads (in brown) but they were just too dark.  What to do…what to do!  Then it struck me.  I took my Sanded background and inked with Very Vanilla CRAFT ink.  I stamped the top of each of the three brown brads on this and then heat set the ink.  PERFECT!  It was just the look I was wanting!  I then layered the flowers onto the strip and the card was finished.

I am happy with the way it turned out.  Congratulations to Jan Tink…this week’s SU Connections featured stamper.  Oh…and guess what?  The Control Freak Blog Hop is on Saturday February 20th!  You don’t want to miss it!  Until later…happy stampin’!
