Vintage Ornament Stencil
Have you noticed that one of my FAVORITE Christmas card color combos this year has been Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry? I just LOVE this combo on Christmas cards. Did you know the SU sells GREAT stencils? Yep…they do! And this card was made with one of the Vintage Ornament stencil packs. Oh…and the Control Freaks blog hop is coming…December 20th…mark you calendars…you don’t want to miss it!
Okay…first I’ve been working hard on fun things to share on the Occasions Create with Connie and Julie. Don’t forget…there’s still time to sign up and get the early bird discount. Now…on to my card…
The base of the card is Bermuda Bay. To make this card you start with the smallest of the two stencils. I use dotto to hold the stencil in place and the RUB the Rich Razzleberry ink into the stencil opening. You want to rub instead of dab…it give a different look. Now leave that open ornament stencil in place and lay the detail one on top of it. I used a sponge dauber the the silver shimmer paint. This dries really quickly. Now…here’s a tip I learned working with the paint and the detailed stencil…make sure you don’t have alot of paint on your dauber. I dabbed off on scrap paper before doing it on my stencil. If you have too much paint on it, it will bleed under the stencil.
Take off the two stencils. Next make a mask of the small open ornament (I did this on a post-it note) and layer over your finished Rich Razzleberry ornament. Next layer the large open ornament stencil on your card and rub the Bermuda Bay ink in the opening. (The mask will protect your small ornament from the Bermuda Bay color.) Now leave all that in place and layer the large detail stencil over the Bermuda ornament and again use the Silver Shimmer paint and sponge dauber. I found it was really important with this very detailed stencil to use extra dotto to hold it in place. Once you have added the silver shimmer paint, remove all your stencils. Pretty huh?
To finish it off I punch two holes with the 1/16” punch and added a ‘string’ and bow using the silver elastic cord. I stamped the greeting from Four the Holidays using Basic Grey ink. Layer this piece onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry and then the Bermuda Bay card base.
WOW…can you believe it is the 14th of December already? I can’t!!! Where is this month going? I think I better get going on my Christmas card! OH MY!!!! Happy Stampin’!
