Tour de Freaks - January
![]()
Welcome everyone to the January Tour de Freaks Blog hop! Oh I hope you are ready for some lovin’ as the freaks share with you their Valentine creations! I’ve been having soooo much fun with all the new stuff from the Occasions Mini…hope you are too! And now on to my projects…
You have arrived here from Connie Babbert’s wonderful site. I hope you are enjoying the tour so far. Now onto my projects…
I have just been having SOOOOO much fun with my movers and shapers dies. It is just so much fun to see what you can cut through! For my first project I cut the fancy favor box from a piece of the Sending Love dsp…oooooooo!!! Now I decided I wanted a ‘window in there so I had to play around figuring how I could get the heart to work. What I found DIDN’T work was putting it into the movers and shapers die (hint…always practice with your retired paper or in my case Glorious Green ‘cause I NEVER use that color!). Then I play with just using the movable heart piece and found that I could get it to work by itself by using a variety of acrylic boards and shims. Yes…it sounds like alot of work but the end result is SOOOO much fun! I used the three acrylic boards and lots of paper shims! Once I had that done I put the box together.
Now my idea for this project was to make it so that the decorations would be on the inside treat bag…so I filled my large cello bag with chocolate, put it in the fancy favor treat box and tie a Real Red Satin Ribbon around the top. (LOVE the new satin ribbons!) Once that was done I added a Real Red Heart Embosslit. I inked the I Love You from Well Scripted using Real Red and Chocolate Chip markers and punch with the full heart punch. (Oh…it’s on Very Vanilla cardstock.) I punched out a couple small hearts and added them to the box so that when you removed the bag, the small hearts would still be there.
So whatcha think? Fun little box to make! Here’s another REALLY fun way to use your movers and shapers die but with a tin. Click here to see the project and have access to the full tutorial!. I REALLY LOVE the Fancy Favor box…it is such a nice size and can really hold alot of stuff in there! I picked up some of the Hershey’s Extra Creamy Hearts for inside mine! I am SOOO excited…I just learned that this project was picked by Shelli Gardner as one of the winner projects in her January Creative Challenge over on So Shelli. Okay…now for my other project….
The other day my friend Lisa and I were working on a challenge. I had found a really cute circle/snowflake card that I really liked and we decided to use it for our inspiration. Besides using that card we also used one of my current favorite color combos…Pretty in Pink, Pink Passion, Gable Green and Bermuda Bay. This is what I came up with for our challenge. I think the card is pretty self-explanatory…use a ton of different size circle punches, the three heart punch and the Heart Embosslit and Full heart punch. I really am liking this color combo…especially on Valentines cards because it is just a little different and definitely fun! You can’t see this in the photo but the white is really shimmery white. OOOOOOOOO so pretty in real life!
So those are my projects for today. Next up you are going to head on over to Julie Buhler’s blog to see what great projects she has in store for you! Click on the picture below to get to her blog…

Mary!!! LOVE, love love the idea of putting the heart on the bag so it shows thru the box. I ruined a few pieces of cardstocking trying to get my heart M&S to work too…except I used going gray for all of my “esperiments”. Thanks for sharing!
