Hello everyone and welcome to the February edition of the ever delightful Control Freak Blog Hop.  If you are just dropping in, this month our team is featuring the Occasions Mini.  Oh…so many wonderful items in there!  It was just so difficult to chose.  This is stop #4 on the hop.  If you are going forward through the hop, you have arrived here from my friend Connie Babbert!  Didn’t she have such wonderful projects for you?  Well on to my projects….

Those who know me, know that I’m usually WAAAAAAY ahead on getting things designed for things like our hop.  I’ve had so many things going on lately, I only had my card done but needed an idea for a 3D project.  Over the weekend, I noticed that I had 3 light bulbs burned out in various rooms so I headed to Wally World to pick several up.  While there I notice this fun collage frame on clearance (sorry guys…there was only one-but when I went back today…there WERE MORE!!!!).  I thought FOR SURE I could come up with something fun for the hop and here is what I ended up with.  It came together SOOOO quickly I couldn’t believe it.  It was almost like it made itself!

I started by removing the glass (‘cause this was going to be one lumpy bumpy frame) and attaching one of the designs from the Sweet Pea (my very favoritest dsp EVER) paper pack to the backing.  From there I put it back in the frame and started working on each little section.  I had some of the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt pieces sitting on my desk and decided that was where I would start.  I actually had turned the frame upside down because I knew I wanted to do a ‘think spring’ idea with the frame.  So I used up the rest of my felt pieces but decided it needed a little more so I thought it would be fun to add butterflies from the beautiful wings embosslit.  I had some leftover butterflies in Rose Red, Old Olive, Regal Rose, and Pretty in Pink from other projects I had worked on so I but them in the little frames too!

But it still needed something else.  So off I went to my desk to see what was sitting on the top and lo and behold there was my Egg Kit…well…wouldn’t that work just GREAT!  So I used two of the rings designed to hold the eggs as grass in two of my frames.  Then I took some of the Pretty in Pink flowers and sponged around the edges using Rose Red ink.  In the upper middle frame I attached some of the felt pieces in the flowers and then added to the frame.

In my final frame I took my Timeless Type Sizzlit Alphabet and cut out think spring using Old Olive and Rose Red paper.  I decided I wanted to put flowers above each i so I made both i’s Old Olive to be my flower stems.  I took the dot from above the eye in the alphabet and added that Rose Red piece to the center of the flower and then added a rhinestone from the egg kit before attaching to the frame.

Okay…looking good but seemed to need a little more so I took some more of my rhinestones (DANG these are FUN to use!) and added them to the butterflies.  I thought this just turned out SOOO cute and can’t wait to have this on display to welcome spring…IF IT EVER MAKES IT TO OHIO!!!!

I originally going to use a different card for my blog hop posting but then decided to make this post into a ‘Sweet Pea Stitched Felt Pieces’ kind of post.  I have to be honest about this product…when I first saw them…well, I can’t honestly say I was jumping up and down for joy!  But I will tell you…now…I LOVE THEM!!!  I have a FANTASTIC project planned in April for my customers using these in a card set and holder!

The base of the card is Rose Red that I ran through the Finial Press Embossing Folder because I really love this folder!  I then sponged around the edges with Soft Suede ink.  I added a strip of the striped sweet pea paper to a piece of Whisper White and then sponged the edges again with the Soft Suede.  Next a added a Scallop Trim edge in Old Olive along the top and tied a piece of the Soft Suede Polka Dotted Ribbon around it.  This is layered to the card front using dimensionals.  The bird is done in Pretty in Pink and Rose Red (sponged with the Soft Suede) and the leaves/branches in Old Olive…also sponged.  I added these to the card front (bird is popped up on dimensionals).  Finally I added a couple pieces from the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt Pieces to finish it off.

So there’s my projects for this month’s hop - Occasions Mini.  I hope you enjoyed them!  Now it is time to move on to Jan Tink’s blog.  You are going to LOVE what she has in store for you!  It is ALWAYS a treat!  Click on the image below to take you there.  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the tour!
