Today Lisa and I FINALLY had a little chance to stamp ‘together’ (she’s in Nebraska and I’m here in Ohio…so ‘together’ means cyber stamping).  We decided to do a couple challenges and the Color Challenge over on Splitcoast was REALLY a challenge!  I decided to combine the SCS color challenge with the Mojo Monday sketch challenge from yesterday.  Here’s what I came up with…

Oh…first before I get started on the card…I just wanted to let you all know that we have decided to NOT hold the Control Freaks blog hop this month…there is SOOOO much going on and we always want to make our projects top notch…so enjoy the 20th with your families!  Okay…on to the card…

So what was the REALLY challenging color combo you ask?  So Saffron…Mellow Moss…MELON MAMBO (yep…MELON MAMBO)!  I really had a tough time with this color combo but I will admit I do like the way this turned out.  I think part of the reason it turned out really well was the mojo sketch challenge was a pretty simple one!  The base of the card is Melon Mambo.  The So Saffron layer is from the NEW Sweet Pea paper pack (oh…I do LOVE this paper pack!).  I layered this onto some Basic Black to make it ‘pop’.  Next I took a piece of Mellow Moss cardstock and layered the NEW SAB scallop edge in Basic Black along the top and bottom.  I next took the Satin Black 5/8” ribbon and wrapped it around this layer and then tied the Melon Mambo Polka Dotted ribbon around it.  Once all that was done, I layered it to the card front.

The scallop circle is the Scallop Circle #2 die in Basic Black.  I then used my circle scissor cutter to do the Whisper White and Mellow Moss circle layers.  I stamped the largest flower from the NEW Vintage Vogue set in Melon Mambo and the smaller on in So Saffron.  The center of the large flower is a 1/2” basic black circle.  The centers of the small flower is a black brad from the vintage brad set.  The leaves were stamped in Mellow Moss.  The final piece is the greeting.  I inked the NEW Well Scripted set using my Melon Mambo and Basic Black markers and stamped onto So Saffron.  To finish this off I sponged around the edges using Basic Black ink.

So…what do you think?  REALLY different color combo!  I do think though that is does work on this card.  Happy Stampin’!
