October - Tour De Freaks!
Hello everyone and welcome to the October Tour De Freaks! It is so nice that you are taking your time to visit all of us this month! If you are stopping by on Monday night please know that the tour doesn’t officially start until tomorrow morning at 8 am. If you are new to the tour, we are a group of swappers who decided to do a monthly blog hop. I am sooo happy to be part of this talented group of stampers! So let’s check out my Christmas cards!
You have just arrived from my friend and very talented Connie Babbert. If you are going backward through the tour you can get to her site by clicking here.
Okay on to my first card (remember to click the thumbnail on the right to see a full view of this card! One day when my friends Jackie and Jo and I were stamping together, Jackie challenged me to do something with the ornament stamp from the sweet centers set. She said I needed to make something she’d want to copy. This is what I came up with! Originally I was going to but red m&ms in the center. Ended up having to open like 8 packets of the m&ms to get enough and then I decided I wanted to do something different so I got into my button stash and found a bunch of red ones to put inside. The base of the card is Real Red. I used a piece of dsp from the Merry Moments collection and layered it onto Very Vanilla. I used the eyelet border punch along the bottom. I stamped the ornament top from Sweet Center in versamark and embossed in gold. I punched out the circle using my 1 3/4” circle punch inserted the treat holder, added the buttons and layered onto a piece of Brushed Gold. I tied a knot in a piece of the red and white polka dotted ribbon and added that with a glue dot. Finally I stamped the Merry Christmas stamp with versamark on Real Red and gold embossed. Punched it out with 3/4” punch and sponged vanilla ink around the edges. I layered this onto a 1” Brushed Gold circle and then to the card front! I was SOOOO happy with the way this one turned out. So much so…I decided to make another card using the ornament stamp and treat cup….
Okay…LOVE the Cold and Cuddly set and decided it would just be TOOOOO cute as a shaker card. I started with a piece of Real Red cardstock, embossed my ornament in gold again, layered onto my piece of Basic Black and punched out my 1 3/4” circle. Now it’s a little difficult to see on the picture but I scored along the edges of the Real Red to just add a little extra something. I stamped my cute little penguin (isn’t he ADORABLE) on a piece of white and punch him out using the 1 3/4” punch. I stamped the hat, cut it out and added it onto the penguin. Next I took some crystal seed beads and added them to the cup as my ‘ice’. I put the cup into through the holes in the red/black and then layered onto my piece of Tempting Turquoise and then the Whisper White card base. I wanted to do something a little different for the greeting so I stamped the “Happy Holidays” from Four the Holidays in black on a piece of Tempting Turquoise. I folded the edges so it would make the greeting ‘pop’ up and added a pop-up glue dot behind it. I cut the edges on each side to make it look like a ribbon. This really added alot of dimension to this card! Finally, as in all things Mary (or as you all know me…stampercamper)...it had to have a ribbon..a real one…made of clothe! I just LOVE our white satin ribbon. It feel SOOOOO wonderful and is truly a delight to play with. I tied me up a little bow and added it to the card. VOILA…a cute (and cuddly) little penguin to send to your someone special! CAHYUTE!!!!

Now these might not be new to some of you but I just LOVE these cards. This is a class I did for my customers using the Gifts of Christmas set. I LOVE this set and have done many different cards with it. These are the four cards from my class. I sort of got ‘stuck’ on the Vanilla, Real Red, Brushed Gold theme and used it in different ways on these cards. The other thing it uses that I absolutely LOVE…the Bridesmaid Specialty paper! If you don’t have it yet…you MUST buy it (right Julie????). I’m not going to go into alot of detail with these cards but wanted to just show you the cards that we made. The first one was a card I designed for an online challenge I did. This one uses a piece of the dsp from the Merry Moment collection. The dove (also known by certain friends of mine as ‘the pigeon’) was embossed in gold. I turned the red and white polka dotted ribbon over to use the back on this one. Quick and easy card! The one to the right of it it pretty much the same but I used the striped Bridesmaid specialty paper and the front side of the ribbon. On the bottom left, I stamped and embossed the flower image and punch out with the circle punch and did the regular basic layering on that. Used a piece of the swirly Bridesmaid paper…sooooo elegant. The last one is REALLY simple. After punching out the flower with the wide oval punch, I took two of the labels from the Big Shot Matchbox die and layered those to make the ‘frame’ ... it works PERFECTLY!!!
Okay…so there’s my contribution to today’s Christmas card tour! I hope you enjoyed them. But…you still have several stops ahead of you and you don’t want to miss a single one! Next up is the very sweet and very talented Erin Blair! Click on the graphic below to go to her blog. Happy Hopping!

Love the “out of the box ideas” for the Sweet Centers—buttons & seed beads! I can see why you got “stuck” on the Brushed Gold, Vanilla & Real Red…because it’s a beautiful combination! Thanks for sharing! Erin
