CCJC4 - Kids Gift Packing
Okay…this one was a tough one for me. Can’t say I’m good at ‘all things kids’ and will admit I struggled with this for awhile. For this week we could use Fox & Friends, Something Sweet, Build a Bear or Picnic Parade. I decided that I would go for the Something Sweet for my challenge assignment. Click inside for more information and link to the gable box and to found out who won last week’s Create with Connie and Julie challenge…
A BIG congratulations to Sandra Hensan who took 1st place in last week’s sketch challenge and Lisa Martz who got 2nd place! Congratulations ladies!
I tried several different ideas before I settled on the gable box idea. A quick ‘search of Net’ brought up many different options but I REALLY liked this one the best. I took the image and ‘blew it up’ to make it a little bigger and then printed directly onto my Kraft cardstock to make cutting and scoring so much easier. I took a piece of the paper from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Pack and layered it onto a piece of Chocolate Chip. I tied the Pumpkin 1 1/4” striped grosgrain around this piece before adhering to the front of the box.
To make it a fun kids idea I used the fishes and made a ‘shaker’ window with the circle on the set stamped in Chocolate Chip on Whisper White. I used the craft knife to cut out inside the circle and added a medium window sheet to the back of it. I layered this onto a piece of Whisper White with a layer of dimensionals to give it the height to be a shaker window (if I did it again, I would use a double layer of dimensionals). I stamped the fish in Creamy Caramel, Pumpkin Pie and Taken with Teal and cut those out and added the window. I layered this onto a piece of Chocolate Chip and then the box front using dimensionals. I stamped the ‘handle’ using Chocolate Chip CRAFT ink onto a scrap of Kraft cardstock, embossed with Clear Embossing powder, cut out and layered using a dimensional. To do the “greeting”, I inked ‘BIRTHDAY’ from one of the stamps in the On Your Birthday set using a Chocolate Chip marker and then wrote ‘fishes’ using the marker under it. I punched this out using the Large oval punch and added it to the box front. To finish off the box, I tied a bow out of the Pumpkin 1 1/4” striped grosgrain ribbon and attached to the handle using glue dots. I decided to not tie the box shut since this was to be for a kid and this way it would be easy to open but could be used again if you wanted to! Fun…FUN!
