Alter It 4
Time for another ‘alter it’ project. One of the sets of items I got a month or so ago was items with Poppies on them. Oh…so BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL!!! We NEED bright and cheerful! Decided to start by working on the journal. When I looked at the colors I actually starting longing for our old Rocket Red! Who out there remembers Rocket Red? NOT a great red at all but it would have been perfect for my poppies….LOL!!! More inside…
When I first saw the journal I just KNEW I was going to use my flower fusion sizzlit to make little flowers to decorate it. I was right…it was perfect. Now I mentioned that Rocket Red would have been the perfect color. Boy..never thought I’d be missing THAT color! LOL!!! The Real Red was a little too intense. Dusty Durango actually matched the color on the journal pretty good but wanted to go with one of our basic colors so I went with that. I made a punch of the flower fusion flower from the Ruby Red, sponged around the edges of each of the layers (gives it a more finished look), layered them but I needed a brad that was bigger than the regular basic black ones (from the Vintage brad set). Oh…what to do. The small neutral brads were the perfect size but didn’t come in black. I had my StazOn Jet Black ink pad sitting on top my desk and decided to give it a try. WOW…that worked! I started with the white small neutral brads and kept tapping the top and rolling the edges until it was covered and then set them aside to dry. PERFECT!!! (Note to self….remember to do this in the future when you need that size black brad!)
I wanted some more flowers on there so I took my 3 flower punch, ruby red paper, sponged the edges and this time added the Basic Black brad from the Vintage Brad collection. I tied a piece of Black 5/8” Satin ribbon around the front and then attached all my flowers to the journal using glue dots. Since I really wanted the flowers to be the focus of this journal, I stamped journey from the Define Your Life set on a piece of So Saffron and added a Basic Black Scallop edge along the side before attaching to the journal front.
I finished up the journal by adding a piece of the Black 5/8” Satin Ribbon as a book mark. It is attached to the inside back cover (and then covered with Whisper White cardstock) and attached another flower fusion to the end.
