Alter It 3 - Part 1
Okay…so believe it or not there was a third variation of these flowers when I went shopping a couple weeks ago. This one was REALLY pretty plain so I couldn’t wait to play some. Once again the set had 8 cards (and envelopes) in there so I wanted something that would be simple, but usable. Check out the box and close up of the cards inside…
Okay…starting with the card. Here you see a sample of the card(s) as I bought them…pretty plain. Wanted to do something a little different with this so I started by taking my Scallop Trim punch and doing the scallop along the bottom of each card. To create a little contrast on the cards I added a Real Red strip along the bottom of the inside of the card before I attached it, I added a Chocolate Chip Scallop Trim edge along the top. It is amazing how something as simple as this can add so much! So…to ‘fancy up’ the front, I started by adding a piece of Chocolate Chip 5/8” Satin Ribbon (attached on the front) and then cut out 8 of the Old Olive medallion using the Lots of Tags sizzlit. I then sponged around the edges of these using Old Olive and added them to the card using dimensionals (I didn’t want the cards to be TOO lumpy!). Since the Wide Oval punch fits perfectly in this tag, I wanted to use a set that worked with that punch. Now, first, I do need to say that this set is retired. It’s called Elegant Cheer and I just LOVE that all the sentiments fit in that punch. I used my Chocolate Chip and Real Red markers to ink the stamps and then stamped onto Barely Banana. This would be another good set to make up a bunch of different greetings and then give them to someone so they can pick the ones they need.
Once I finished the cards I needed a holder for them - because, if you have been tuning in every week, you know that’s what I like to do! What to do…what to do? This time I found a card holder that I had purchased and realized it would be the perfect size for my card so I took a 12 x 12 piece of paper and used it for this. Don’t forget to take things (like boxes and stuff) that you have sitting around your house and rip them apart to use as patterns for things you are making. I do that all the time. Since my cards sort of looked like the Confetti Cream paper, I decided to use that for the box. I had a piece of 12 x 12 Confetti Cream around the house. Now SU doesn’t sell that anymore but you could use the Very Vanilla just as easily. So I ripped about the box I had and used that to create my box pattern. I wrapped a piece of Real Red Textured cardstock around the bottom and tied a piece of the Chocolate Chip 5/8” Satin ribbon around it. I added another medallion to match the cards on the front. It took me awhile to figure out how to decorate it from there but then I decided to use my Vintage Vogue set.
I wanted to pull the colors for the front of the box from the cards inside so I stamped the largest flower from the Very Vogue set using Real Red, Bashful Blue, and Lavender Lace. I then stamped a bunch of the little leaves using Certainly Celery. Since my very favorite thing to do is cut things out, I cut these all out, and added them to the front of the box. Oh…I used the small Neutral Brads (Chocolate ones) in the middle of each of the flowers. Once I had everything done and put together, I have to say I am happy with the way it turned out. The box was very easy to make, which is always a plus, and I think this works out just right.
Well…I did buy another item in this color scheme so stop by tomorrow to see that project. Now…just so you know…there weren’t any more items with this flower design on it so you’ll have to see what the next set of items were. Until then…Happy Stampin’!
