Alter It 2 - Part 2
So like I said…I liked part 1 of this set so much I just had to go and get some cards and do a part 2! It is really kind of fun to start with a set of printed cards and then just start adding to them. I wanted to do something a little different with this set and decided an ‘emergency card kit’ would be fun. Click inside to see what I mean by this!
So this is a picture of the blank card. It’s a nice set of colors and so I started playing around with what colors would be best with this. At first I thought I would go with the some chocolate chip…we all know that EVERYTHING looks better with a little chocolate on there…LOL!!! The more I played with it the though, I decided there wasn’t enough contrast and I wanted more of that. So I decided I wanted to add a strip of dsp and picked a piece from the Bella Blue pack. It’s a white/vanilla sort of print and very subtle.
I took the strip of Bella Blue dsp and added a strip of Basic Black to the top and then took another strip and punched it with the SAB Scallop Trim Border Punch and added it along the bottom. There were 8 cards in this pack so I made one for each card. Next I took a some pumpkin pie 1/4” grosgrain ribbon and tied it around the piece before adding it to the card front. Next I created a ‘medallion’ for the cards using the Designer Label Punch (in Rose Red), the 1” Circle Punch (in Pumpkin Pie), and the Modern Label Punch (in Basic Black). I sponged the edges of the designer label punch with Rose Red ink and the 1” circle punch with Pumpkin Pie. I layered these all together and layered them onto the cardfront using dimensionals.
Now I wanted to make this into a ‘card kit’ so that the person who would receive it could take the greeting they needed and add to the medallion. I stamped greetings from the Teeny Tiny Wishes using Basic Black on Barely Banana. I then punched them all out using the Word Window punch and then sponged the edges using Rose Red ink. To help keep all these little greetings together, I found that they all fit very nicely into one of the kisses glassine envelopes from the Occasions mini.
Now for something to put them in. Honestly…I just really simple on this one. I just made a base that would hold the cards and envelops and laid the little envelop with the greetings in there on top. Next I took some of the medium weight window sheets and created a ‘sleeve’ to slide the base into. I finished it off by tied a piece of the 1 1/4” Black Striped grosgrain ribbon around it. Now…it would look better if I added a tag on there…but I just sort of ‘ran out of juice’! So…if you decide to do something like this…add the tag. You’ll like it! LOL!!!
So that’s this week’s altered project. WOW…what a gift! If you REALLY liked the person…you could give them all of it! So…more of my finds to come so you’ll have to come back next week to see those. Of course, you can always stop by during this week to see what else I have in store for you! Happy Stampin’!
