So…here’s the card set I made from the plain printed cards that matched the other items.  I know I often would look at those packs and thought they had some pretty ‘paper’ but I don’t know why I FINALLY thought of taking them and making they special!  More details inside…

Here’s a close up of one of the cards undecorated beside a card that I finished.  The cards in this set were regular card size 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and I decided to just work with it the way it was.  Since the card was folded on the left, I needed to cut a slit in the side so that I could feed my ribbon through it and tie a bow.  I decided to use the Certainly Celery 5/8” Satin Ribbon from the Occasions Mini catalog.  It just went so perfectly with the flowers!  My thought for this was to create a cardset that someone could sit on their desk and have ready for those last minute card needs.  The set came with not only the 8 cards but also 8 envelopes.  I decided to do 4 birthday, 2 thanks and 2 thinking of you.  I stamped the sentiments using Night of Navy ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out using the Wide Oval punch.  I purposely positioned the greeting to the bottom (and bottom left) of the oval so that I could decorate with flowers.  This is layered onto a medallion made from the Lots of Tags sizzlit.  I used my 3 flower punch to punch out flowers in Bashful Blue, Lavender Lace and Certainly Celery.  I sponged Night of Navy ink around the edges of the flowers and attached them using Silver Brads.  Some of the medallions I attached on the cardfront and others I used dimensionals.

So here’s the set completed.  Each card is the same but just a little different.  I REALLY like the way they all turned out.  I thought since this would be given as a gift I made a little holder out of cardstock to hold the cards and envelopes.  I made the holder out of Lavender Lace cardstock and tied a piece of the Certain Celery 5/8” Satin ribbon around it.  I took a medallion in Almost Amethyst from the Pennant die.  I layered the initial (lavender lace ink) 1 1/4” circle and layered onto 1 3/8” Night of Navy circle.

What a fun set to give someone!  So my $3 investment has become a nice gift that I can give to someone.  Now right now I know it has my initial on there but I put it on with removable tape so I can take it off and put another initial on there when I need it as a gift (don’t worry…I won’t be using it first!).

Well I hope you enjoyed these two posts in the first of my series of ‘Alter It’!  I got some more great finds from the store so be on the lookout next week for some more ideas!
