Tour de Freaks - May
Welcome all you wonderful folks to May edition of Tour de Freaks. I hope you are enjoying your ‘trip’ around all of our blogs. If you are going forward through the blogs you have arrived here from my friend Connie Babbert. Weren’t her projects just wonderful? Always are! I just LOVED her ice cream cone idea! Well here you go with my projects this month…
I don’t know about you but I like taking one idea and using it more than one way. If you are a regular visitor of my blog you will notice I do that alot. As I was trying to figure out what to make and share with all of you today, I decided I wanted to use the Island Oasis paper because it is so dang bright and cheery! You can’t help but smile when you see it. Then for some odd reason I wanted to use the Fresh Cut Notes that I’ve been HOARDING since they have come out. And then I decided I wanted to add in there some of those Itty Bitty Buttons. So you put that all together and what do you got? Well…that would be my projects that I want to share with you today.
First up is my card on a box. Yep…that’s the best way to describe this…it is a box…and the card is attached to the top of the box as both the decoration and well, you know, the card! There really isn’t much to making the box. The bottom is an 8 7/16 x 8 7/16 Tempting Turquoise piece scored at 1” and 2” all around, cut and folded to make a nice sturdy base. The top is a 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 piece of Whisper White scored at 3/4 and 1 1/2 all around, cut and folded to make a nice sturdy top. Then I tied a piece of the Real Red Satin ribbon around it to finish it off.

Now the card on the top of the box is the same concept as what I used for my other project so I’ll describe this in a little more depth. Take one of your Fresh Cut Notes, remove the cut out pieces and then run just the front through the Lattice Die folder. Stamp the larger flower and the palm leaf from the Tropical Island set, cut out and layer on top covering the cut out center. I used a brad in the center to hold it to the card. Tie a piece of ribbon around, add a word window greeting on top of a modern label punch. Finish this all of by adding two of the Itty Bitty Buttons with punched piece from the Bitty Trio punches. Since I have ‘issues’ with ‘naked buttons’ I did finish my buttons off with linen thread. Next add a piece of designer series paper behind to the back of the front of the card (hmmm…did you get that one) using dimensionals and then decorate the inside of the card however you want! I layered my card onto a Pumpkin Pie piece cut from the Scallop Square die and then to the box top.
Isn’t this just the CUTEST little box! All you have to do is add a little gift and you are ready to rock and roll!
Now for these I’m not going to into much detail…just see the info above. The difference on these is I made three different ones changing around the colors of the flowers, ribbons, modern label punch piece and Itty Bitty Buttons. The other difference? These are gift card holders! I added a piece of dsp to the inside card adhering it only on the bottom. I added silver brads to each side to make a little pocket to hold your gift card.
So there you have the same set of products and two different projects from them. Now you KNOW you’ve been hoarding those Fresh Cut Notes. Pull them out…it’s okay…REALLY! And have fun making these projects!
Technically you have reached ‘the end of the hop’ with my blog but because the Freak hop is a full circle you can start anywhere and make it all the way around. The next stop (which was also the first stop) is the FABULOUSLY TALENTED Dawn Olchefske. I always LOVE seeing her projects (so I can sit down and CASE them!)

Until next time…Happy Stampin’!

Holy cow! This is just amazing Mary. I agree with everyone else - what a perfect concept for these cards. The Fresh Cuts seems to be made just for this stamp set too.
