Tour de Freaks - July
Welcome to the July Tour de Freaks monthly Blog Hop! If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from my friend and very talented stamper Connie Babbert with Inkspired Treasures! As always her projects were wonderful! I just LOVED her customer appreciation box - SOO CUTE! (and congratulations to her for making the Alaska Cruise - WOO HOO!) If you are visiting the hop before July 20th, not all the links my be active as we work on linking everyone together! So here’s what I have for you today.
I was trying to figure out what to do for the hop when I was talking with my friend Jackie and she made a comment about doing a project using the Aviary set since I REALLY like this set (oh…so CUTE!). I decided how cute it would be to design a box around one of the birdcages and then add a little collection of 3 x 3 cards (using the new incolors) inside. I will post the jpg of the birdcage next week so please stop back then if you would like it.
To make the box I printed out the birdcage I designed and put it on the front and back of a Fancy Favor Treat Box (that die is just so good for SOOO many things!). I decided to decorate the front but stamping a birdcage in Concord Crush. I stamped the M from the Jayne alphabet in Pear Pizzazz and then added some birdies in Peach Parfait. This is punched out with the 1 3/4” circle punch, layered onto a Pear Pizzazz circle and then onto a Poppy Parade 2 3/8” scallop circle. I added some Basic Rhinestones to it and a little knot from the Basic Black 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon. I added jumbo eyelets to the top to finish off the birdcage (both front and back).
I’m not going to go into alot of detail for the little cards as they are pretty straight forward. I used the new Elegant Lines (oooooo…what a GREAT embossing folder) on front of each of the cards. Each of the birdcages are stamped using Basic Black ink on Whisper White. From there each of the little cards are a little different. On the Poppy Parade card I added a scallop edge in Pear Pizzazz and a Pear Pizzazz strip along the left side. A knot from Basic Black 1/8” taffeta added to the top of the birdcage. For the Peach Parfait one I used the word window punch in Concord Crush and the letters from the long sizzlet die Billboard (also in Concord Crush). Basic Rhinestones are added for a little bling.
For the Pear Pizzazz I used a piece of the Peach Parfait incolor dsp paper pack. The scallop is Concord Crush and the circle is Poppy Parade. Finally the last card (isn’t that little owl just the CUTEST!), I did the new ribbon punch in Poppy Parade. The image is punched with the wide oval punch and I used two of the tag pieces from the matchbox die in Pear Pizzazz to create the frame. That little tag is from the Tiny Tags set. I thought a little Rhinestone was perfect for ‘holding’ the tag on.
So that’s it for my projects for this month’s Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! I hope you enjoyed them and that you come back next week for the birdcage.
You are now in for a treat as you head over to the always amazing (and funny) Jan Tink! Click on the picture below to take you there.
Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!
