Tour de Freaks - August
![]()
Welcome everyone to the August Tour de Freaks! Oh…do the Freaks have some fun in store for you! You have just arrived here from my friend Connie Babbert and her Inkspired Treasures site! Did you see the bat? I just LOVE the bat! Do you just LOVE her stuff? I do! And now on to my projects…
Now we were supposed to pick our favorite holiday. Well…I have a confession…it’s NOT HALLOWEEN! My very FAVORITE is Christmas but for some reason I decided to do Halloween instead. Today I have two little treat holders for you. I thought I’d focus on the soon to be available Dark and Dreary set from the new Holiday Mini. We don’t really do the whole trick or treat thing here at our house but I do like making little treats to give friends. So today I have a little treat for someone neat and a bigger treat for someone sweet!
First the little treat for someone neat…
I just love the little treatcup holders but as we all know we don’t want someone ripping apart our creation to get to the treat inside so I KNOW you’ve seen this before…you make a slider so that when it is in place, the treats stay put and when you pull it up, the treats come out the back. Now a little about how I made mine. I took a piece of Basic Black 3 x 6, folded it in half, ran it through the new Spider Web embossing folder, punched a 1 3/4” circle out of the middle (both front and back) and then rubbed the Whisper White CRAFT pad along the top to accent the spider web. Since I was feeling QUITE patient when I made this, I just set it aside to dry.
Now the slider part is the new 2 3/8” Scallop Circle punch in Basic Black. I added a 1 3/4” Peach Parfait Circle on top and then the Owl from Dark and Dreary (stamped in Basic Black) and punched with the 1 3/8” circle punch. I punched a hole in the top and added a piece of taffeta ribbon.
Now to finish off the treat holder, I used the 1” circle punch at the top (the fold is on the bottom) to create the notch in the front and back and then just used some black brads to hold it together at the top. Pretty quick and easy overall. This is filled with some Reeses Pieces…mainly because no one around here has their Halloween Candy out yet. Can ya believe it! LOL!!! Christmas - yes…Halloween - NO!
Now on to my second project…a bigger treat for someone sweet….
I made a little box the size to hold the Ghiradelli Chocolate treats and then put a little ‘angled stand’ inside so that the chocolates would be on an angle. Sorry…I have not done up a template for this…it was one of those make it up as you go along kind of things! I ran the front of the box through the Spider Web embossing folder and then used the Whisper White CRAFT ink on it again (I wanted a matched set…you know I like matched sets of things!). Then I tied two pieces of the Pumpkin Pie 1/4” Grosgrain Ribbon around the box. I did the main image in Basic Black on Old Olive, cut it out and layered it onto the box using dimensionals. Next I stamped the circle 31 on piece of Whisper White, punched it out with the 1/2” circle punch and layered it onto the front using a dimensional.
So there are my treats for someone nice and someone sweet! Time for you to head on over to Wendy Janson’s site to see what she has in store for you! Click on the image below to take you there.
Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!
