Before I get into my post for today…I just want to let everyone know that my summer ‘break’ has officially come to an end’. I am back at school which means I probably won’t be posting quite as much as I had during the summer. I had such a blast participating in all the challenges and sharing them with you. Now that doesn’t mean I won’t be posting! I do the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge, the Diva Coffee Break Challenge the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and soon the Create with Connie and Mary Holiday Mini edition will be going and I’m have some things to share with that. When I have time though, I will still be doing other challenges and posting but it won’t be every day (or sometimes two a day! LOL!! Okay…that said…on with the challenge.
Aren’t these GREAT colors? I love when you add a little ‘red’ to a color combo…really helps to make things POP!! I love the individual stamp “Fancy Flower” and decided this would be good to use for the challenge. This is a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 card. The base is Whisper White and I’ve added a piece of the River Rock dsp along the bottom and corner rounded the bottom edges. Now my biggest problem with this sketch was that done of the colors came with ribbon. OOOOOOOOOH NOOOOOOOO!!!! That was easily solved though with a piece of Whisper White Satin ribbon and the Rose Red marker…now I had a pretty Rose Red Satin ribbon to wrap around my card and tie on the end with a piece of Linen Thread. The image was stamped using Not Quite Navy and punched out with the XL Flower Punch. I then inked it again using Baja Breeze and used a blender pen to take the ink off the for You and inked that with the Rose Red marker, stamped and punched with the 1 1/4” Circle Punch. Now you may wonder why I inked it that way and not just with markers. I did try that but the Baja was not turning out dark enough when I used the marker. By using the pad and then removing with the Blender pen to add the second color, the colors turned out so much nicer. So a little tip for you today! The center was layered using dimensionals and then to the card front also using dimensionals. It is all finished off with a few rhinestones! (How DID we live without those????)
So that’s my card for today. If you get a chance, head on over to the Diva Coffee Break site and check out all the FABULOUS creations done by the design team and get inspired yourself! Until next time (which is tomorrow)...HAPPY STAMPIN’!
